![]() I guess in some respect I find many elements of it to be more complicated than they need to be just for the sake of creating complexity. I went from loving this show in high school when I first learned about it (2001 or so) and now finding it to be annoying and overrated. I always knew something was off and I was missing something and always wanted to know what that was, finally watching shows in the original language I now just find much more enjoyable and feel like I am actually getting the full experience I was missing out on. Watching dubs I get the same feeling I did as kid watching Godzilla or Gamera movies where the words never synced to the mouths. I don't understand those who wouldn't buy a sub-only release, but to each his or her own. If I were to watch anime with the English dub instead of subbed, I'd cringe because of the terrible acting, terrible pronunciation of names, and it'd lose a large part of what makes anime anime, to me. Anime is distinctly Japanese, and should be watched in Japanese for the "true" experience. Saying that "anime has no native language" is one of the dumber arguments to bring up. Most sub-watchers watch subs in part because they think English dubs are bad. That doesn't mean dub-watchers have to take the bait or feel slighted.
